Bernardo de la Garza, who was director of Conade from April 8, 2008 to November 30, 2012, has now been appointed by the president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, María José Alcalá, as the new Head of Mission for the Mexican Delegation that will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Grateful for the trust of the Olympic family and its president María José Alcalá. Dedication, commitment, and unity of purpose. Let's go Mexico!" said Bernardo de la Garza on his social media.
Currently, Bernardo de la Garza is a permanent member of the Mexican Olympic Committee and is also a host for Claro Sports. In his political career, he was elected to represent the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico in the Chamber of Deputies from 2000 to 2003 and in the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District from 2003 to 2006. On November 12, 2005, the PVEM chose him as their candidate for the 2006 presidential election, however, his aspirations ended when the party formed an alliance with the Institutional Revolutionary Party.
Thus, Bernardo replaces Mario García de la Torre, who was Head of Mission for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The tasks of the Head of Mission include overseeing accreditation processes, attending technical meetings with the heads of mission from other countries, and also handling the logistics for the Mexicans in terms of their stay in the host country and the distances to be traveled for the competitions.
It was also officially announced that former taekwondo athlete Víctor Estrada is the Head of Mission for the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, and former diver Fernando Platas for the Pan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023. Both former athletes are Olympic medalists, with Víctor winning bronze in Sydney 2000 and Fernando winning silver in the same edition.
