Several tall pine trees fell near fans around the 17th hole of the Masters of Augusta, shortly before the second round on Friday was interrupted due to bad weather.

According to the first eyewitnesses, the trees falling did not cause any injuries among the spectators.

Shortly after the incident, all fans of the Augusta National Golf Club (Georgia) were evacuated due to the expected arrival of thunderstorms with strong winds and lightning.

This type of pine trees are a characteristic feature of the iconic 7,545-yard (6,900 meters) golf course, the only one in the world that hosts a Grand Slam tournament every year.

A total of 39 players, including American Tiger Woods and Spaniard Jon Rahm, were still scattered around the course playing their second round of the event.

The day had a first break of 21 minutes and a second one that was declared at 16:22 local time (20:22 GMT).

Some trees have fallen during today's round at the Masters of Augusta due to the bad weather.

Fortunately, there have been no injuries.
