On Monday, Gareth Bale, former English footballer, announced his entry into professional golf after hanging up his boots some time ago. The former Tottenham and Real Madrid player made a post on his social media accounts to announce his new venture in this new discipline.
"Delighted to announce that I will be competing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am early next month! Let's go," read the post made through Gareth Bale's official Instagram account, who was a figure for Wales in their participation in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
As you may recall, the 33-year-old player always expressed his love for golf, but this will be the first time he will play professionally in an international tournament. As for his football career, the Welshman announced his retirement on January 9th after playing for Los Angeles FC in the Major League Soccer and participating in the World Cup.
Gareth Bale's gratitude
"To express my gratitude to all those who have played a role throughout this journey feels like an impossibility. I am indebted to so many people for helping me change my life and shape my career in a way that I could never have dreamed of when I started at the age of 9," said Bale, who played with Wales in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
"To my previous clubs, Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid, and finally LAFC. To all my previous managers and coaches, backroom staff, teammates, all the dedicated fans, my agents, my incredible friends and family, the impact they have had is immeasurable. To my parents and sister, without their dedication in those early days, without such a solid foundation, I wouldn't be writing this statement right now, so thank you for putting me on this path and for your unwavering support," he added.
