We have a champion! Last Saturday, Pilar Jáuregui won the gold medal at the 2022 Parabadminton World Championships, after defeating Turkish player Emine Seckin 2-1 in the WH2 (singles) category final, with scores of 21-18, 20-22, and 21-17.

The championship took place in Japan, and the victory was achieved at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, the same venue where Pilar played two matches in the recent Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Although she didn't achieve the goal on that occasion, the Peruvian player got her revenge this time.

"Our world champion! Pilar Jáuregui wins the title at the Parabadminton World Championships in Japan after defeating Turkish player Seckin. Congratulations!" posted IPD on their social media.

Pilar Jáuregui, who won the gold medal at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, aims to once again raise Peru's name high at the upcoming Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games and, subsequently, at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

On the other hand, in the 2022 Parabadminton World Championships, Giuliana Poveda and Nilton Quispe won the silver medal in the mixed doubles SH6 category.
