The Fourth Round of the World Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai, India

The fourth round of the World Chess Olympiad 2022 in the city of Chennai, India, kept the Cuban teams without a shadow of a setback. The girls prevailed over Sweden and their male counterparts over Hungary.

Facing the Swedish team, the outcome was 2.5-1.5, with a draw for the defender of the first board, Lisandra Ordaz, against Pia Cramling; while in the second, Yerisbel Miranda lost to Inna Agrest. In the third and fourth boards, Maritza Arribas and Yaniela Forgas won against Viktoria Johansson and Jelena Andric, respectively, according to www.chess24.com.

The men achieved a more comfortable result (3-1), thanks to the victory of the national champion Yasser Quesada on the main board against Viktor Erdös; meanwhile, on the second and third boards, Carlos Daniel Albornoz and Isán Ortiz agreed to a draw with Ferenc Berkes and Támas Bánusz, and Omar Almeida won in the fourth board against Gergely Kantor.

Both teams have an identical score of seven points out of a possible eight, according to the match point system used in the tournament, and on Tuesday, the men will play the fifth round against Azerbaijan, while the women will face Kazakhstan.
