The paddle has gained many followers in recent years

To the extent that today it has a new circuit, such as Premier Padel, to try to consolidate itself as one of the fastest-growing sports.

For this reason, the voices calling for an opportunity in the Olympic program are increasing.

A few days ago it was the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, who advocated for this sport to be considered in the future.

"Surely we will soon see paddle among the great Olympic sports," he said a few days ago during the presentation of the tournament that will be held in Madrid, as part of the competitions of this Premier Padel season.

Well, these words fill Alejandro Galán with optimism, who besides being one of the number one players in this sport - alongside his partner Juan Lebron - is also the president of the Paddle Players Association.

"It is a point in our favor, in this bet that all the players make; it is clear that being hand in hand with the Federations is great and it is getting closer to being Olympic. I am very happy about this, about the fact that a paddle tournament was being presented in Madrid, and I hope I can experience it as a player when it becomes Olympic," he said, after reaching the semifinals of the Major being played at Roland Garros.

What does it need to become Olympic?

However, for paddle to become an Olympic sport, it will take a long time because it must meet the following requirements demanded by the International Olympic Committee:

- Being a sport widely practiced in a minimum of 75 countries and 4 continents by men, and in a minimum of 40 countries and 3 continents by women.

- Any sport that wants to be part of a Summer Olympics must have adopted and correctly apply the World Anti-Doping Code.

- Any sport that is admitted to the program of an Olympic Games must be accepted at least 7 years before those Olympic Games begin.

- In addition, they must wait for the IOC to eliminate some sports disciplines, since there can be no more than 28 sports during the Olympic Games.
