The Ecuadorian Emilio Gómez advanced to the semifinals of the ATP tennis tournament in Dallas (indoors) on Friday, while the Brazilian Joao Menezes was eliminated in the same phase.
Gomez, the tenth seed, defeated the fifteenth-seeded American Jeffrey John Wolf in straight sets of 7-6 (10/8), 7-6 (8/6) in one hour and fifty minutes.
Gómez will now face the winner of the match between the top-seeded American Frances Tiafoe and Denis Kudla (8:00 PM, Ecuador time) in the semifinals.

On the other hand, the Brazilian Menezes lost to the Austrian Jurij Rodionov with a pair of 6-4 in one hour and twenty-three minutes.
The Austrian will face the German Dominik Koepfer, 92nd in the ATP world ranking, who defeated the American Mackenzie McDonald by 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. (D)
