Swiss Federer's Winning Streak Continues
The Swiss, who entered the Sankt Jakobshalle stadium with 21 consecutive wins in the Swiss tournament, defeated Albot, ranked 49th in the world, for the second time in his career (they faced each other in March in the second round of the Miami tournament) to secure a spot in the quarterfinals for the 17th time in 19 editions.
Roger Federer, currently number 3 in the ATP ranking and top seed in the tournament, will face the winner of the match between American Frances Tiafoe and his compatriot Stanislav Wawrinka, ranked 17th in the ATP ranking and the 7th seed of the Swiss tournament, in the quarterfinals.
If Federer wins the tournament in the city where he was born, he will equal the 10 titles he has in Halle (Germany), the tournament where he has won the most trophies.
