Rafael Nadal, with 33 years old and 84 titles in the ATP circuit -19 of them in Grand Slam tournaments- is already thinking about retiring from professional tennis. Although the Spanish player has not set a date for his farewell, he has referred to the subject and acknowledged that he is already "in the final phase".

On Wednesday, Rafael Nadal visited 42 Madrid, a pioneering Telefónica programmer campus where students can freely choose their learning path without teachers, books, or classrooms. He stated that he wants to "stay connected to sports" when he finishes his career as a professional tennis player.

"I am in love with sports and I want to stay connected to it when I retire. I am in the final phase, it is sad but it is how it is, and the academy is to ensure that objective for the future," said Nadal.

"The year has been very good. Last year too, but I had to skip many tournaments due to physical problems. Now, from Barcelona to here, I have been able to play the ones I wanted. I hope to continue following my planned schedule," analyzed the 33-year-old tennis player. After winning the US Open and participating in the Laver Cup in Geneva with the Team Europe, he plans to return to the courts in the Paris Bercy Masters 1000, and then continue with the ATP Finals in London and the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid.

"I do what I love, and when someone does what they love, there is no sacrifice. What I am really satisfied with is the ability to overcome, to keep growing even after achieving many things or overcoming moments like when your body doesn't respond. I have always done it with the help of the people I have by my side," admitted the Spanish champion.
