After two years, Argentina will have a representative within the hierarchy positions of Conmebol: Claudio Chiqui Tapia assumed the position of vice president 2nd of the organization that regulates South American football, which will once again have Paraguayan executive Alejandro Dominguez as president.
Tapia will take a position that Argentina had lost after the resignation of Luis Segura in July 2016. "Less than a year and a half ago, Argentine football was forgotten in America and the world. Today it regains presence in Conmebol with a vice presidency. An honor and a huge responsibility. Thank you! Let's keep working!" wrote the top executive of AFA on his Twitter account after the appointment.

The 69th Ordinary Congress of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) took place in Luque, Paraguay and determined that Dominguez will continue leading the continental organization until 2022. The Paraguayan executive had assumed the position in January 2016 after the FIFA Gate scandal that led to the resignation of Juan Angel Napout.
The main positions in the organization will be completed by the Venezuelan Laureano Gonzalez (vice president 1st) and the Chilean Arturo Salah (vice president 3rd).
In addition, Fernando Sarney (Brazil), Ramon Jesurun (Colombia), Wilmar Valdez (Uruguay) and Maria Sol Muñoz (Ecuador) will be the representatives of Conmebol in the FIFA Council.
