Tennis Tournament: Serena and Venus Williams to face off in third round

After easily advancing through the second round, sisters Serena and Venus Williams will face off in the third round of the Indian Wells tennis tournament for a spot in the round of 16.

Their last encounter was just over a year ago in the final of the 2017 Australian Open. After that, Serena took a break from the season due to her pregnancy, and she has recently returned to the court, narrowly defeating Dutch player Kiki Bertens 7-6 (7/5) and 7-5.

"I still have a long way to go. I felt better than in the first round, but I'm still a bit rusty. This is a test for me, traveling with the baby and playing is all so new," admitted Serena.

As for Venus, who is the eighth seed in the competition, she had to fight her way through by defeating Romanian player Sorana Cirstea with scores of 6-3 and 6-4.

The match is scheduled for Monday and will be the 29th encounter between the world's most popular tennis sisters. So far, Serena, the winner of 23 Grand Slams, has 17 victories against her older sister.
