All Set for LAAC 2018

Everything is ready for the Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC) 2018 to kick off. Starting this Saturday, at the Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile, 105 amateur golfers from 27 countries in the region will compete for the prestigious tournament. Among them will be six Peruvians, who are confident in representing the country with pride.

The LAAC 2018 will be broadcasted throughout Latin America by ESPN, which will cover all the details of the tournament, lasting until Tuesday, the 23rd.

Julián Périco, Luis Fernando Barco, Felipe Strobach, Santiago Zubiate, Patricio Freundt-Thurne, and Alberto Menacho will be our representatives in the prestigious LAAC 2018.

The first to start Round 1 will be Luis Fernando Barco. The 22-year-old golfer, one of our main prospects along with Julián Périco, will make his debut at LAAC 2018 at 7:56 a.m. In his group are the Chilean Tomás 'Toto' Gana, the top favorite, and the Mexican Álvaro Ortíz.

In 2014, the Masters Tournament, The R&A, and the United States Golf Association (USGA) announced the creation of the Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC) as an effort to promote growth and inspire greater interest in the game of golf in South America, Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

With each edition, the tournament has gained more strength and importance, especially due to the prize for the winner. The champion of the LAAC 2018 will receive an invitation to compete in the Masters Tournament, one of the most important professional golf tournaments.
