United States overwhelms Mexico 91-55 in World Cup Qualifiers
The United States national team defeated Mexico 91-55 in the second game of the Americas Cup Group C, in the men's qualification round towards the 2019 FIBA World Cup China.
The American team, made up of players from the G League and eight of them with experience in the NBA, was superior from start to finish.
The so-called "12 Guerreros" had a brave reaction in the second quarter, going from 17-32 to 27-32, but then the home coach, Jeffrey van Gundy, made adjustments and from there on there was no other winning team.
Marius Markel Brown, Xavier Munford, and Travis Waer each contributed 14 points in the victory, and as a team they had a field goal percentage of 50.77%, made 20 two-point shots, 13 three-point shots, grabbed 43 rebounds, and distributed 16 assists.
Marco Antonio Ramos Esquivel was the top scorer for the Mexican team with 12 points, followed by Paul Stoll with 11 and Édgar Garibay with 10.
Now there is a long break for the players to continue their activities with their clubs, and the next two World Cup qualifying games for Mexico will be on February 23, 2018, against Puerto Rico, and on February 26, away in Cuba.
