Arnold Palmer remembered at The Masters opening ceremony

American golfer Arnold Palmer, who passed away last September, was the central figure at the opening ceremony of The Masters in Augusta, being honored and remembered with great affection and tears by players and fans who adore him.

Jack Nicklaus and Gary Palmer appeared at the opening ceremony without Palmer, when the three of them were always together. Later, Arnold's wife, accompanied by Billy Payne, director of the Augusta tournament, also made an appearance.

"On one hand, it's a wonderful day, and on the other hand, it's very difficult. Arnold Palmer was my friend. He was everyone's friend. Despite his fame and fortune, he always had time for us. I'm deeply saddened that he's not here", said Payne.

Arnold Palmer, winner of the Augusta tournament in 1958, 1960, 1962, and 1964, became the catalyst for golf's global popularity with his charisma, joy, and great performances that were broadcasted on black and white television and eventually reached color in homes around the world.
