Sexual Harassment during the World Cup

For several weeks, we have enjoyed the festivities of the 2018 World Cup in Russia; however, there is a situation that seems to become unsustainable. The World Cup also brought us shameful episodes of sexual harassment towards female reporters who were just doing their job, as individuals interrupting broadcasts tried to kiss and bother them, using the celebration as a cover.

Spanish Journalist María Gómez

Tired of the "exaggerated" labels she had been receiving, María Gómez, a Spanish journalist, used her social media to publish her complaint.

Julia Guimaraes from O'Globo Network

Julia Guimaraes from the O'Globo network decided to confront her aggressor directly.

Colombian Reporter Julieth González

Colombian reporter Julieth González was also a victim of harassment in Saransk. Although she maintained composure at that moment, she demanded respect through her social media.

Many of these incidents were isolated during the World Cup festivities.
