The German coach, Joachim Löw, will continue in his position despite being eliminated in the group stage, according to reports from various German media outlets.

Löw has a contract with the German Football Federation (DFB) until 2022 and its president, Reinhard Grindel, expressed his support immediately after the elimination.

Grindel said at the time that before the World Cup, Löw's contract was renewed based on the conviction that he was the right person to start a renewal that, regardless of what happened in Russia, should begin after the World Cup.

Löw took over as coach in 2006 as the successor to Jürgen Klinsmann, whom he had been an assistant to.

In the 2008 Euro Cup, Germany reached the final, losing to Spain. In the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Germany finished third, and in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, they won the title. They also reached the semi-finals in the 2012 and 2016 Euro Cups.

After being eliminated in Russia, Löw said he needed time to make a decision about his future.

Although there have been harsh criticisms in the media, no prominent figure in German football has called for Löw's resignation, which, if the news circulating today is confirmed, could have been one of the factors that prompted him to continue in his position.

Germany had never been eliminated in the group stage of a World Cup.

The elimination in the group stage of the Euro Cups in 2000 and 2004 led to the resignation of the respective coaches, Erich Ribbeck and Rudi Völler. (EFE)
