After 88 years of World Cup history, the captain will have the honor of scoring the first goal for his country in a World Cup. This unleashed craziness in his country, and even radio broadcasters were moved to tears after witnessing the player's goal against England.
Baloy achieved another record. He became the oldest player to score a goal in his debut. He surpassed Martín Palermo's record of 37 years and 120 days, with his own record of 36 years and 227 days.
