The footballers of the Icelandic national team will be able to have sex before their game against Nigeria in the 2018 World Cup, as long as it is with their wives, said coach Heimir Hallgrimsson on Thursday.
When an Icelandic journalist asked if sex was prohibited for team members, Icelandic captain Aron Gunnarsson said, laughing, "For now, yes."
However, Hallgrimsson intervened: "That is at least until the wives have arrived. No, sex is not prohibited."
The Icelandic players met with their families in Volgograd on Thursday, where they will face Nigeria on Friday for the second match of Group D, with an eye on the knockout stage after drawing 1-1 with Argentina in their debut.
After scraping a draw in their debut at the 2018 World Cup against Argentina, debutant Iceland faces Nigeria, who is looking to react after starting with a defeat against Croatia.
