Mexican coach Juan Carlos Osorio on Mexico's victory over Germany in World Cup 2018
Spanning from his pre-match press conference, Mexican coach Juan Carlos Osorio stated that the 'Tri' triumphed over Germany in their first match of the 2018 World Cup based on "the love of winning and not the fear of losing."
The Colombian-born coach explained that "the phrase for today was 'to play for the love of winning and not for the fear of losing'" and praised his players for embodying this philosophy in their 1-0 victory over the reigning world champions, thanks to a goal by the fast-paced forward Hirving Lozano.
"Today, we had the courage to play when we could, and when it was time to suffer, we defended with our lives," said the Mexican coach.
"We will try to give more joy to those who have always supported us, and we will try to convince those who haven't, that we can achieve results and victories like today," he announced.
The Mexican coach also emphasized that he will always credit the players. "We will celebrate responsibly and recover well to prepare for the next game," he concluded.
