Joachim Löw, Germany's coach, commented during the press conference held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow that "the Spain-Portugal game was a World Cup in its purest form."
Löw, who led the 'Mannschaft' to their fourth World Cup title four years ago, referred to the exciting match played in Sochi, in which Spain tied Portugal 3-3 in the first match for both teams in Group B.
"The Spain-Portugal match was an extremely exciting game, with all its essence. It was a pure World Cup match," said the German coach.
Löw also highlighted the opening match of the World Cup, in which the hosts defeated Saudi Arabia 5-0. "I liked the first match of Russia, seeing all the euphoria that victory meant for the host."
Germany will debut in Russia 2018 this Sunday (10:00 a.m.) against Mexico, as part of Group F, which also includes Sweden and South Korea. (with information from EFE)
