The Peruvian national team midfielder André Carrillo assured that they will face the match against Denmark and the rest of the matches in group C "with the same seriousness". The player acknowledged that despite Peru's expectant position in the FIFA ranking (7th place), these factors are put aside when entering the field.
"We will face the three matches with the same seriousness. The ranking does not matter. Our first goal is to advance to the next stage," he said in statements collected by FIFA reporter Gilda Arrúa.
André Carrillo and Aldo Corzo were present at the press conference of the Peruvian national team before heading to Saransk, where they will play their first match against Denmark in group C on Saturday. France and Australia, the other two countries in the group, will play on Friday.
Carrillo's birthday
André Carrillo, who turned 27 years old on Thursday, was the main character of the first part of the Peruvian national team's fourth training session in Moscow, the last one in the Russian capital before their debut in the 2018 World Cup next Saturday against Denmark.
The Watford player appeared on the grass of the Arena Khimki with blonde-dyed hair, just like his teammate Luis Advíncula. The rest of the players greeted Carrillo in a relaxed atmosphere before the warm-up, the first physical exercises, and the traditional rondo, the only part of the training session that the press can see.
The referee for Peru-Denmark match has been announced
The Peruvian national team already has the referee for their debut in Russia 2018 against Denmark. It is Bakary Gassama, a native of Gambia who was appointed by FIFA. The referee's team has also been defined.
RPP Noticias was able to learn that the referee's team will be made up of the first assistant Djibril Camara and the second assistant Samba El Hadji Malick, both from Senegal.
