The Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated the Russia 2018 World Cup, this Thursday at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, in front of 80,000 spectators, before the opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
"I congratulate you on the start of the most important championship in the world," Putin said in Russian.
"Welcome to the FIFA World Cup here in Russia. Football will conquer Russia and from Russia it will conquer the world. Enjoy the biggest celebration on earth," added the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino.
"Thank you President Putin, thank you Moscow," added the Italian-Swiss, applauded by the stadium.
Next, Russia and Saudi Arabia, led by the Spanish-Argentine Juan Antonio Pizzi, opened the fire in a match directed by the Argentine referee Néstor Pitana.
