Japan's national team arrived in Kazan on Wednesday night, their headquarters during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, six days before their debut in the tournament against Colombia.
The Japanese team, the last of the 32 teams to arrive in Russia, landed at the airport in the capital of Tatarstan, coming from Austria, where they played a friendly match against Paraguay (4-2 victory).
► Will the Colombians repeat the last World Cup rout against Japan in Russia 2018?
Japan has played three matches before Russia 2018, with a record of one win (the aforementioned match against Paraguay) and two losses - one at home in Yokohama against Ghana (0-2) and another in Lugano against Switzerland (0-2).
The team coached by Akira Nishino is one of the three teams that will be based in Kazan during the World Cup - they will reside and train at the Rubin Kazan facilities - along with Colombia (Ski Resort Kazan), their first opponent in Group H, and Australia (at the Ak Bars Kazan residence, the city's ice hockey team).
Japan will start their journey in Russia 2018 on June 19 at the Monravia Arena (Saransk) against Colombia, before facing Senegal on June 24 at the Central Stadium in Ekaterinburg, and closing the group stage against Poland on June 28 at the Volgograd Arena (Volgograd).
