Real Madrid announces unexpected signing of Julen Lopetegui as new coach

The Real Madrid announced less than two hours ago the unexpected signing of Julen Lopetegui as their new coach after the World Cup. The coach of Spain will therefore leave the position at the end of the national team's participation in the tournament that starts on Thursday.

Tomorrow there will be explanations from the interested party and also from the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, who faces his first big challenge in a few days in office. But the next challenge will be to find a replacement for the coach, although it is not a priority at the moment, but it will have to be decided this summer.

The casting is already open, and we see in media outlets like Marca or Mundo Deportivo names of different coaches. Many of them are currently unemployed, such as Luis Enrique, Quique Sánchez Flores or Míchel, who appear at the top of the lists. Similarly, names like Paco Jémez, Aitor Karanka or the Federation's sports director, Fernando Hierro, are also mentioned.

Another logical option would be to give the opportunity to Albert Celades, who is currently in charge of the U21 team. There are also talks about other coaches with contracts, such as Quique Setién, in charge of Real Betis. It seems that this is just the beginning...
