It turns out that the Egyptian goalkeeper is 45 years old, which wouldn't be a problem for him to surpass the record set by the South American goalkeeper, who achieved the feat by playing a match in the 2014 World Cup at the age of 43.
El-Hadary is one of the most beloved players by the Egyptians and became a hero in the African Cup of Nations, where the 'pharaohs' finished as runners-up.
The Egyptian National Team is in Group A, alongside the host of the World Cup, Russia 2018, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia. The 'pharaohs' won't be able to count on their biggest star in the first match, but they still hope to advance to the next round.
