Rubén Pons, the physiotherapist who treats Mohamed Salah, spoke about the recovery time of the Egyptian star. He will seek to reduce it so that he can make it to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Mohamed Salah's participation in the World Cup could be in jeopardy due to injury

A discouraging scenario. Mohamed Salah is facing a race against time to be able to participate in any of the group stage matches of Russia 2018, as the star of Egypt and Liverpool will not be available for "three or four" weeks, announced one of his physiotherapists.

Spanish Rubén Pons, who usually treats the Egyptian forward, estimated in statements to the newspaper Marca that Mohamed Salah will need three or four weeks to recover from the shoulder injury that he suffered last Saturday in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

A period of inactivity of three weeks will keep Salah unavailable until June 16th and until the 23rd if the recovery takes an extra week. Egypt, drawn in Group A of the World Cup, will debut against Uruguay on the 15th, will then play against Russia on the 19th, and will face Saudi Arabia on the 25th.

He is sad about what happened, but completely focused on his recovery," said Pons. "He will set the recovery timeline. It will initially be three to four weeks, but we will try to reduce those deadlines. That is the main objective," added the therapist. Mohamed Salah has moved to Spain to continue his recovery there, accompanied by doctors from Liverpool and the Egyptian national team.
