The coach of Panama, Hernán Darío 'Bolillo' Gómez, will reach his 231st match leading national teams in the match against Northern Ireland on May 29, reported the Panamanian Football Federation (Fepafut).
"Gómez will become the fifth coach with the most matches in the bench, once the match against the Northern Irish begins on May 29," the entity states in a statement.
Gómez, who previously coached the national teams of Colombia, Ecuador and Guatemala, is tied in fifth place for the coaches who have directed the most matches for national teams with German Berti Vogts (230), who coached Germany, Nigeria, Kuwait, Scotland, and Azerbaijan.
The Colombian made his debut with the Panama national team on May 31, 2014, when the Central American team faced Serbia in a match played in the US city of Chicago, which ended in a draw of one goal.
With Gómez, Panama qualified for the World Cup for the first time. In Russia 2018, the Central American team will play in Group G with Belgium, Tunisia, and England. (EFE)
