The use of video assistant referee (VAR) during the 2018 World Cup in Russia is still a matter of discussion and debate among FIFA officials, who will make a decision by the end of February, according to Spanish newspaper Diario As.

Opinions are divided, as there are those who consider the use of VAR in the most important national team tournament to be correct, as many times an refereeing error has determined the fate of several teams, even the champions.

However, there are also those who believe that the system is not yet perfected and want to wait a little longer before implementing it without errors.

According to the reports, the International Board (IFAB) will hold meetings between the end of February and the beginning of March to discuss the use of VAR in Russia 2018.

It is worth mentioning that VAR is already used this season in two of the major European leagues: Serie A in Italy and the Bundesliga. Meanwhile, in La Liga of Spain, it will only be used in the next season.
