The Peruvian National Team achieved a draw against New Zealand in Wellington in the first match of the World Cup Russia 2018 playoff. However, the bicolor had chances to win in Lima. One of them was from midfielder Pedro Aquino.

It happened two minutes before the end of the game. Jefferson Farfán fought for the ball with goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic. The 'Foquita' won the ball and immediately served it to his teammate who had a better shooting angle.

Aquino was not accurate in the finish. He sent the ball over the goal. He could not believe the opportunity he had missed. His teammates encouraged him to keep going in the few remaining minutes.

That dangerous opportunity was the third for the Peruvian National Team in the match played at Westpac Stadium. The previous chances were from forward Jefferson Farfán and defender Aldo Corzo.

The bicolor will seek its qualification for the World Cup Russia 2018 in 180 minutes. The second leg will be played next Wednesday at the National Stadium in Lima.
