The Colombian ex-footballer Faustino Asprilla affirms that Lionel Messi is the only valuable player Argentina has, but he laments that he plays with "donkeys".
"This guy is made to play with the equipment manager, to play with the press seller. Give him real players. How can they make him play with those donkeys?" said Asprilla, commentator of an ESPN program.
The former forward assured that in the World Cup qualifying match that Venezuela drew 1-1 on Tuesday in Buenos Aires, Messi tried to score but his teammates did not help him.
"Messi passed three balls to them and they got scared. It was like they said, 'This is impossible, where did he put that ball?' It's really difficult for him to make those bakers play," he pointed out.
Two games away from the end of the South American qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia, the Argentine national team is in fifth position, which gives them the right to play in a repechage.
Their fight for a direct spot will be defined against Peru in Buenos Aires, and against Ecuador in Quito.
