RALEIGH, N.C. – The Clemson Tigers are shorthanded on both sides of the ball for their matchup against NC State. With injuries sustained against Miami, the losses are lingering into Carter-Finley Stadium.
As expected, wide receiver Antonio Williams is out with a toe injury. He made his return against the Hurricanes, but the issue showed up in the second quarter. Head coach Dabo Swinney expressed his concern about Williams returning at some point in the year, so it’ll be key to see his progress as the season approaches.
The defensive line is missing two key players in defensive end Justin Mascoll and defensive tackle Peter Woods. Mascoll’s absence was expected as Swinney called him day-to-day while Woods is more of a surprise. He was in a boot last week, and now the rest of the unit has to step up with two starters out.
Good news is defensive lineman Tre Williams is on the travel roster for the first time of the season and it’s right on time given the losses. Another player to watch is defensive end TJ Parker, who was seen limping pregame while wearing a sleeve on his left leg.
Wes Goodwin will be tasked with shuffling his defense yet again as the Tigers kick off against the Wolfpack at 2 p.m., televised on the CW Network.
