Philadelphia Eagles Stop NFL's Most Powerful Offense!

With a solid defensive performance when needed and a couple of touchdowns between the end of the third and the fourth quarter, Philadelphia dominated and defeated the Miami Dolphins 31-17 in Sunday Night Football of Week 7.

With a 100% effectiveness on their four fourth-down conversions – against two failed attempts by Miami – the Eagles were superior to their rivals in the final stretch, limiting the Dolphins' dynamic offense to only 244 yards compared to the 355 yards achieved by the home team at Lincoln Financial Field.

Jalen Hurts completed 23 of 31 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns, but also had a turnover with an interception that was returned for a touchdown and a fumble. The running game shined in the red zone, with touchdowns by Hurts (21 yards) and Kenneth Gainwell (16 yards) and 62 yards by D'Andre Swift.

Through the air, A.J. Brown (10 receptions for 137 yards and 1 TD) and Dallas Goedert (five receptions for 77 yards and 1 TD) were Hurts' main targets, while Josh Sweat sacked the Dolphins' quarterback twice. Tua Tagovailoa completed 23 of 32 passes for 216 yards and went 1-1, with a touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill (11 catches for 88 yards).

The first quarter was even, with field goals by Jake Elliott (24 yards) and Jason Sanders (40 yds), the latter resulting from an offensive play that occurred after Jalen's fumble. Philadelphia regained the lead with a 19-yard pass from Hurts to Goedert, and the quarterback himself extended the lead with a QB sneak at the 1-yard line, the play that Philly continues to excel at. Hill brought Miami closer with a 27-yard reception that ended in the end zone. Tagovailoa's pass was a great rainbow.

Although Philadelphia stopped Miami on fourth down, they gave up a pick-six when Jerome Baker intercepted a bad pass by Hurts and returned it 22 yards for a tie game at 17 points. It was the last notable thing the Dolphins did in the game, as Jalen connected with a 14-yard pass to A.J. Brown and broke the tie.

When Tagovailoa targeted Raheem Mostert on a deep pass, Darius Slay intercepted him at the 1-yard line and returned the ball 16 yards, allowing Philadelphia to start another offensive series in their territory. With good passes to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the Eagles reached the opponent's territory and Gainwell scored on a 3-yard carry. In their final offensive series, Miami was unable to gain a single yard in four plays.
