The incident occurred after Hamlin stopped an opponent's attack and caused a stir in the NFL and in the world of sports in general. The player collapsed on the field and had to receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Once stabilized, he was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition for a week. He was discharged on January 11 and continued his rehabilitation at home.

The player was given permission to return to training in April, participated in exercises with his team for the first time in June and was part of the late July training camp.

Hamlin was able to train during the preseason and played in three games, but this Sunday he was able to play his first official game since the incident. He did it in a high-voltage game in the AFC East against the Dolphins.
