According to the police report published this Thursday, a witness noticed an altercation between a man and a woman outside the BMO Stadium and immediately reported it, leading to the arrest of Mexican pitcher Julio Urías.

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías was arrested after someone witnessed a physical altercation between a man and a woman outside an MLS stadium and contacted the police, according to the arrest report released on Thursday.

The report from the Department of Public Safety provided details about Julio Urías' arrest on Sunday night on South Hoover Street, outside the BMO Stadium in Exposition Park, south of downtown Los Angeles.

The report stated that officers from the Department of Public Safety were patrolling outside the stadium after the soccer match between Inter Miami and LAFC -- featuring Carlos Vela -- in which Lionel Messi played against numerous celebrities. They were contacted by someone, whose name was not publicly identified, regarding a physical altercation between a man and a woman.

The report says that the officers spoke with the individuals involved and determined that a physical altercation had occurred. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Julio Urías on suspicion of corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant.

In addition, Chris Carr, the deputy chief of the Department of Public Safety, told ESPN's Paula Lavigne that a civilian recorded the incident with a cell phone and that the video is now in the possession of the authorities.

Julio Urías posted a $50,000 bail and was released early Monday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 27.

The Department of Public Safety is handling the investigation and is urging other witnesses with information to contact the office.

Julio Urías was placed on indefinite administrative leave by Major League Baseball last Wednesday.

The leave was imposed under the joint policy on domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse adopted by MLB and the players' association in 2015 and may be the first step towards a suspension. Players are paid but cannot play while on leave.

MLB and the union agreed to the leave, which did not specify a duration. In the absence of an agreement, MLB could have imposed a seven-day leave with the possibility of a seven-day extension.

Julio Urías, a 27-year-old pitcher, was arrested in May 2019 on domestic violence charges. MLB suspended him for 20 games, but the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office declined to prosecute him on the condition that he complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program. No player has been suspended twice under MLB's joint policy on domestic violence.
