Panama's defeat in penalty shootout
For the coach of the Netherlands, Louis Van Gaal, the previous World Cup in Qatar 2022 was not entirely correct, as he hinted that Argentina received help in the tournament because there would be an interest in Messi's team winning the championship.
"Look at how Argentina scored, how we scored, and how some Argentine players crossed the line without being punished. I think everything was premeditated," the coach said in an interview with a Dutch network about the quarter-final match in which his team lost to Albiceleste.
When asked if by saying "premeditated" he meant that everything was done for Argentina to become champions, Van Gaal responded, "Should Messi become the world champion? I think so."
THE NETHERLANDS WAS DEFEATED IN THE PENALTY SHOOTOUT
The Netherlands was eliminated from the World Cup by Argentina, who won in a penalty shootout of 4-3, in the quarter-finals of Qatar 2022, after drawing 2-2 in a match with many accusations both on and off the field. As you may recall, Van Gaal had downplayed Lionel Messi's footballing qualities prior to the match.
