Facundo Torres scored a brace in Orlando City's victory over St. Louis City, the leader of the MLS' Western Conference, extending his great form.
After resuming the domestic tournament season - following the break for the Leagues Cup - the forward, who emerged from Peñarol, scored the two goals that led his team to victory against one of the best teams of the season.
The first goal came in the 47th minute, when he received a pass in the area and slotted it past the goalkeeper into the far corner, making Roman Bürki's effort to stop the shot futile.
The visitors surprised the violet team, the fourth in the Eastern Conference, by equalizing in the 78th minute through Rasmus Alm, but in the end, Orlando City would find the winning goal thanks to Torres.
In the 91st minute, from the penalty spot, the Crow precisely finished and scored the 2-1 goal that gave the Lions the victory at the Explora Stadium in Orlando, where Mauricio Pereyra and César Araújo from Uruguay were also starters.
Torres has played 67 matches for the United States team, in which he has scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists so far.
