Although Uruguay is not a strong team in volleyball, something that characterizes them, as well as in soccer, is their 'garra' (fighting spirit). That's why it was clear that they were going to be a tough rival for the Peruvian national team.

And even though they scored several points, the 'matadoras' (killers) imposed their hierarchy and won with a 3-0 victory (25-14, 25-11, 25-16) in their second match in the South American Championship in Cajamarca. With this, we secured a spot in the semifinals and also qualified for the 2020 Pre-Olympic in January.

It is because the teams that reach this stage secure their ticket to the tournament that will determine the second country to go to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, alongside Brazil.

With the qualification in the bag, Peru will face Colombia tomorrow to determine the leader. This with the aim of getting revenge for the Pan American Games, where we couldn't beat them.

"Against Colombia, it will be the most important match. We will give it our all," said libero Vanessa Palacios.

In their debut, the Peruvian team easily defeated Bolivia with a score of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-11. Although there were nerves at the beginning, the errors were quickly corrected.

"It's important to start winning. This tournament is short and we have to maintain a good streak," said setter Miryec Muñoz.

On the other hand, Uruguay lost in their debut with a 3-0 defeat against Colombia (25-9, 25-8, 25-20). Although it was an undisputed loss, the 'charrúas' (Uruguayan team) showed their fighting spirit in the last set.
