Peru wins first silver medal at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games

At the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, Peru won its first silver medal. Our parathlete Luis Sandoval claimed the medal in the men's para athletics 5000 meters final. In this competition, the Peruvian Rosbil Guillén won the first gold medal in these Parapan American Games, however, his participation was disqualified a few minutes later.

With this decision, Sandoval, who had achieved third place in the competition, moved up to second place in the race. The para athlete earned the silver medal by finishing second in the same event.

Luis Sandoval López set a time of 15:54.81, while the Ecuadorian Castro Reyesse took home the gold medal.
