The Chilean Diego Reyes, Assistant Coach of Marcelo Bielsa, will be the new coach of the Uruguayan U-22 National Team in the Pan American Games that will take place in Santiago, Chile between October 20 and November 5.
While initially the intention of the AUF was to call Marcelo Broli for this position, his departure from the Uruguayan National Team Process after winning the U-20 World Cup excluded him, which is why it was decided that Reyes would take the position, accompanied by "Ruso" Diego Pérez as Assistant Coach.
The new coach of the Uruguayan U-22 team has been working alongside Bielsa since 2008, accompanying him in his stints with the Chilean National Team, Athletic Bilbao, Olympique de Marseille, and Leeds United.
The Uruguayan team is part of Group A in the Pan American Games, where it will have to face the host, Mexico, and Dominican Republic.
