We are just a little while away from the unveiling of the name of the new coach for the Mexican National Team. Amidst this context, it has been revealed that the decision about who will be the strategist is leaning towards Miguel 'Piojo' Herrera, since, in the last hours, the approval of the Uruguay Guillermo Almada has lost momentum in the competition for the key position of the Mexican representation.
According to the recently published information by the TUDN media, Almada has lost strength among Mexican soccer executives because he has not been able to completely persuade the current National Team Selection Committee, formed by Amaury Vergara, Alejandro Irarragorri, Emilio Azcárraga, Ernesto Tinajero, and Jorgealberto Hank.
According to the cited source, this group of leaders does not fully agree with Guillermo's work plan, so there has not been a unanimous agreement on his proposal. Given this situation, the door is open to other contenders, especially Herrera, who a few weeks ago stated that he is ready to take on the challenge.
"Yes, I want to be the national team coach. If there is a possibility, I will always be ready for the national team. I am prepared and I have a project. (Over time) you become much more mature, you learn from the blows of life. You grow, it is not as if soccer has changed so dramatically in the last nine years," said the coach in this regard.
In addition, one of the negative aspects pointed out about Almada is his controversial departure from Santos Laguna, a club owned by Irarragorri, as the Uruguayan did not leave under the appropriate terms of the 'Guerreros' squad, although he recently showed his gratitude to the sports institution for bringing him to the soccer of this part of the continent.
On the other hand, the alternatives of Marcelo Bielsa and Antonio 'Turco' Mohamed have been weakening for various reasons. In the case of the latter, for being away from national soccer in recent years. Finally, the case of Miguel Herrera would have momentum; likewise, it is said that his contract would have guidelines for behavior and conduct.
