Defender makes a tremendous confession regarding Diego Alonso's approach for this match against Portugal
The Uruguayan defender José María Giménez promised this Monday that his team will "give their all" in the final round against Ghana to avoid the Celeste's elimination in the group stage of the World Cup.
The 2-0 defeat this Monday against Portugal qualified the Portuguese team (with a perfect 6 points) and leaves Uruguay with only one point, bottom of the group. Ghana has 3 points and South Korea has one point, but a better goal difference than Uruguay.
"We will give it our all," promised Giménez in statements after the match, already thinking about the decisive match of the third and final round against Ghana, on Friday.
"Now we need to change our mindset and enter the field with clear ideas, knowing the need we have. From the attitude, nothing can be reproached," he pointed out.
Giménez reaffirmed that the Celeste will not give up until the last breath and will remain true to their fighting spirit to overcome this adverse moment.
"We finished very tired due to the huge effort. It's a shame that it doesn't work out as it should. We have to turn the page. There's one more final (the match against Ghana in the third round) and I trust the group, we will give everything until there is at least the minimum," he insisted.
The midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta also asked the fans to have confidence in the team.
"We must believe a lot in this group, which has shown that it grows in adversity," he declared to the Spanish television Gol Mundial.
"The goals have been denied to us. We are left with frustration because the results have not come, but we have one more game, we have one more final. We have to go all out in that match," he added. AFP
