Peñarol defeated La Luz 1-0 in the first leg of the 2022 Copa AUF Uruguay semifinals, at the Campeón del Siglo stadium in Montevideo. Hernán Menosse scored the only goal of the match with a header at the 58th minute, after a cross from Agustín Álvarez.
With this result, the aurinegros take the advantage and are only one game away from playing the final of the Uruguayan Cup. In the other match, Defensor Sporting and Progreso drew 1-1. The second leg between Peñarol and La Luz will take place at the Estadio Centenario on November 1st.
