Universitario de Deportes is going through a critical moment in the Torneo de Verano and the rumor of a new coach coming is growing. In this regard, RPP Noticias spoke with Argentine coach Américo Gallego, who expressed his willingness to be the new cream DT since he is not currently in charge of any club.
"I don't know anything, the last one to find out is the coach. I don't know about my representative but not yet", began the coach when asked about his possible arrival at the merengue club. "I would like it because I am unemployed, I need to work", he concluded without ruling out joining 'U'.
He made these statements after the end of the first half in the match between Sporting Cristal and Santos for the Copa Libertadores. Américo Gallego was the coach of Argentine clubs such as River Plate, Independiente, and Newell's Old Boys. He also coached Mexican teams Toluca and Tigres, and in 2011 he arrived at Colo Colo in Chile.
Gallego made it clear that he is in Lima visiting some friends like Franco Navarro and the coach of the Peruvian National Team, Ricardo Gareca. If the rumor is true, the 'Tolo' would be signing a contract with Universitario in the next few days and would replace Roberto Chale, who is currently in poor health.
