The Atlético Paranaense team, runner-up of the Libertadores in 2005, arrives with high morale for the clash against University Católica. This after having qualified for the group stage after two very difficult eliminations (Millonarios and Capiatá).
The Curitiba team, who will face a Chilean team as a local for the first time, has the confirmed absence of forward Grafite due to suspension. On the other hand, the newcomer Eduardo Silva will not make his debut for still being out of shape, as assured by coach Paulo Autuori.
On the other side is University Católica, who returns to the Libertadores after five years, but arrives immersed in a crisis of results. They have lost four of the five matches played in the local league and fell this past weekend by 2-0 against Colo Colo.
