Universitario de Deportes was defeated last night by Deportivo Capiatá

Universitario de Deportes was defeated last night by Deportivo Capiatá by 3-0 at the Monumental Stadium in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores second phase. The cremas had won 3-1 in Paraguay but lost the advantage by receiving the thrashing at home and were eliminated with an aggregate score of 4-3.

The goal with which Capiatá eliminated Universitario

Deportivo Capiatá from Paraguay qualified to the third phase of the Copa Libertadores by beating Universitario de Deportes 3-0 in a high voltage match played on Thursday at the Monumental Stadium in Lima.

The goals of the heroic victory of the "Capiateños" were scored by Roberto Gamarra in the 14th and 34th minutes, and Dionisio Pérez in the 68th.

The team led by Diego Gavilán achieved the feat with a completely offensive game led by striker Roberto Gamarra to eliminate the Peruvian team, which had won 3-1 in the first leg.

Capiatá will face Brazil's Atlético Paranaense in the third phase, which eliminated Millonarios from Colombia in a penalty shootout in Bogotá.

Universidad de Deportes seeks to certify their pass to the third round of the Copa Libertadores

Universidad de Deportes will try tonight (7:15 p.m. on Fox Sports 2) to secure their pass to the third round of the Copa Libertadores against Deportivo Capiatá from Paraguay, who needs a miracle in the form of a thrashing to qualify over the Peruvian team. The match will be played at the Monumental stadium.

The Paraguayan team needs to win by three goals after losing 1-3 in their stadium last Thursday, a challenge that becomes even more difficult due to the little effectiveness of their players in taking advantage of their scoring chances, as seen in the first leg.

Universitario will play with a very similar team to the one in the previous match to avoid overconfidence that could jeopardize their qualification, despite the comfortable advantage obtained in the first leg and the fact that they will play the Peruvian classic against Alianza Lima next Sunday.

For this match, coach Roberto Challe will have Venezuelan midfielder Arquímedes Figuera back, who could not play in Paraguay due to suspension.

Another novelty in the starting eleven of Universitario will be the inclusion of Panama's Alberto Quintero on the right side, who will play his first match as a starter with the crema shirt.

Juan Manuel Vargas aims to play again in midfield, as he did at the Capiatá stadium. This Wednesday he trained normally despite reports that he had ankle pain.

If he doesn't recover in time, young midfielder Giordano Mendoza would play in place of the 'Loco' Vargas, who scored his team's goal in the 1-1 draw against Sport Huancayo in the opening match of the Peruvian league.

Deportivo Capiatá has not won by three goals since December 17th of last year, when they defeated Sol de América 0-3 in the Paraguayan tournament.

The team led by Diego Gavilán will rely on the luck in front of the goal of striker Roberto Gamarra, who scored Capiatá's goal in the first leg match.

The Paraguayans will arrive at the match with high morale after winning 1-2 in the first round of the Paraguayan tournament in their visit to Nacional de Asunción, with a double by defender Gustavo Noguera that allowed the opening goal for the home team.

The winner of the tie between Universitario and Capiatá will face the winner of the series between Brazilian Atlético Paranaense and Colombian Millonarios in the third round of the Libertadores.
