Universitario defeats Wanderers in Copa Libertadores

The Bolivian team Universitario defeated Wanderers from Uruguay 3-2 in the first match of the revamped Copa Libertadores. The goals for the home team were scored by Víctor Hugo Melgar (18), Alexis Bravo from penalty (28), and Aldo Velasco (66). Sergio Blanco (5) and Cristian Palacios (77) scored for Wanderers. The score is not enough to secure a qualification in the second leg in Montevideo, considering that away goals count double.

The team led by Bolivian Javier Vega is motivated for their third participation in the Copa Libertadores. Universitario wants to advance with confidence.

With the aim of being respected at home, Universitario will not give up the attack but will also not neglect the defensive line. Manager Vega is expected to include five players, including Brazilian Tinga and Argentine Federico Silvestre.

The offensive plays of Universitario will be led by the duo formed by Aldo Velasco and Alejandro Quintana.

On the other hand, Wanderers wants to start in the Copa Libertadores with a positive result in their first appearance. One of the doubts in the lineup presented by coach Jorge Giordano is in the goal, where the young Ignacio De Arruabarrena or Mauro Silveira could play. The offensive line will be formed by Wanderers' captain Sergio Blanco and Rodrigo Rivero.
