Deportivo Capiatá wins 1-0 against Deportivo Táchira
Paraguayan team Deportivo Capiatá made its debut today in the Copa Libertadores with a close 1-0 victory over Venezuelan team Deportivo Táchira. The only goal of the match was scored by Hugo Lusardi.
The victory gives Capiatá momentum for the decisive second leg match of the first phase of the tournament, which will be played this Friday in San Cristóbal.
The first half of the match started without any apparent offensive ambition from the visitors, except for a couple of shots by Rojas that went off target, and a shot by Ramirez that was saved by Capiatá's goalkeeper, Bernardo Medina.
Near the end of the first half, there was a surprise. Lusardi, determined to score throughout the whole first half, took advantage of Táchira's weak defense and managed to score Capiatá's long-awaited first goal in the Libertadores.
The own goal sparked the Venezuelan team, who offered a more equal match in the second half, with the entry of Hurtado and Zambrano, who came close to equalizing with a shot that ultimately went off target at the 80th minute.
Lusardi and Martínez from the home team continued to pursue the second goal, but fatigue affected their accuracy.

Capiatá has prepared for this match during the preseason, with the goal of achieving a result that will allow them to travel to Venezuela with the tie in their favor.
With that objective in mind, Capiatá's coach, Diago Gavilán, has strengthened the squad with up to seven top-level players from the Paraguayan league, such as defender Carlos Bonet, who came from Cerro Porteño and is expected to be called up on Monday.
Deportivo Táchira arrived in Asunción last Saturday with a renewed team and their new coach, Colombian Santiago "Sachi" Escobar, who prepared his players at an altitude of 4,173 meters in the Venezuelan mountains of Mérida.
The Táchira team's goal is to score at least one away goal that will benefit them in the second leg, which will be played four days later. They will rely on the offensive capabilities of forwards Edgar Pérez Greco and Víctor Aquino.
Both teams are starting the first round of the 2017 Copa Libertadores and are already counting down to their respective domestic tournaments, which have not yet begun.
