The Peruvian Under-20 National Team coached by Fernando Nogara will fight with all their weapons to be the first generation to qualify for the World Cup in South Korea in May.
The Argentine coach has defined the list of 23 players who will go for the dream in the South American Under-20 Championship in Ecuador, where the key players are Brian Reyna (Mallorca II of Spain), Adrián Ugarriza (Universitario), Raúl Tito (Universitario), Roberto Siucho (Universitario), José Cotrina (Alianza Lima), Luis Iberico (USMP), Gerald Távara (Sporting Cristal) and Fernando Pacheco (Sporting Cristal).
"Committed players who understand what we ask for in the technical command in every aspect, both in football and in personal aspects, and players who we believe are the best in performance. It doesn't matter if they have played in the First Division, in the Second Division or Reserves," he told RPP Noticias.
"We have a very clear objective, which is to represent Peru in the best possible way, leaving a good image. If we achieve that, surely we will qualify for the hexagonal and then in the final part of the South American Championship it is difficult, it is historic, but we will go for that dream," he added.
The fans still remember the Under-20 teams of Daniel Ahmed (2013) and Víctor Rivera (2015), who although did not qualify for the World Cup, managed to advance to the hexagonal with an important group of individuals. Nogara commented that his team's virtue is playing together.
"Unlike those 2 groups, this team does not have individually outstanding players; there is a compact, united group and no one is above their teammate," he concluded.
