Universitario de Deportes defender John Galliquio Renews Contract
Defender John Galliquio is in the plans of the technical command and the board of Universitario de Deportes to continue in the team. The experienced center-back hopes to sign his renewal with the team this week for the whole of 2017. His goal? Win the national championship at the end of the season.
"Renewing is my dream, I want a rematch, I am upset about what happened this season. This week I hope to meet with the administration and reach an agreement to play this season. There is still John Galliquio for a long time and I have something to contribute to the club," said the merengue defender.
The 37-year-old defender is aware of the difficulties he had this season but hopes to contribute to Roberto Chale's team. "I played very little, I am always one of those who play. At first, I wasn't well and I respect the coach's decision. I always had faith and patience. The day came and I was in the most important and beautiful games. I wanted to finish playing and become champion, but it couldn't happen," added the player from Universitario de Deportes.
John Galliquio hopes to sign his renewal and have more continuity in 2017 with the goal of playing in the Copa Libertadores and winning the local tournament. "The team has been making good signings and I hope to contribute my grain of sand. This year will be special because we will play the Copa Libertadores and it is a beautiful tournament that every player loves to compete in. This year, 'U' must win the national title," he added.
John Galliquio was hired in the middle of the 2016 season to face the Copa Sudamericana and the second part of the local championship. His 'Tyson' numbers reveal that he started in six matches and scored once (against Melgar in the first leg of the 2016 Descentralizado semifinals).
