The Cantolao Sports Academy seeks to play in the top category of Peruvian football for the first time in its history. In 2015, they were one step away. Cantolao was the runner-up of the Copa Perú and for this season, they participated in the promotion.
Sport Áncash, on the other hand, lost their category in 2009. In the following years, the 'Green Threat' was in the Second Division and Copa Perú. In this tournament, in the 2015 season, they reached the round of 16 and were invited to the promotion tournament for 2016.
